Here we go. Calling all Nordic folk- and world music artists and DJs… It's time for Showcase proposals for FOLKELARM 2010. Come perform at this years Oslo Showcase event from the 9.- 12. September. If selected by our jury, you'll play before about 150 music industry professionals, festival bookers, labels, distributors, journalists and of course a great audience! - people you need to help launch, re-launch, sustain and expand your career. 

FOLKELARM 2010 is approaching. The deadline for all proposals is Monday, 15 February 2010. Fill out the application form below, and return it together with other attachments, by mail.

Performances in all folk music forms and styles are welcome for our 40-minute sets - traditional, classical, modern, popular, electronic.. Every selected artist get to play at least 2 times, and our jury really wants to give space at this Oslo showcase event not only to Norwegian artists, but also to other Nordic artists, who deserve wider audiences and have the professional standards necessary to tour. This year around 20 artists will be chosen, from about 200 proposals. 


Funding: Please note that FOLKELARM is not in the position to cover your travel expenses. What we do provide is your hotel, the stage, the necessary equipment to perform, local transport to and from the airport and the venue, and our extensive promotional treatment on equal basis with all other FOLKELARM Showcase artists. That includes promotion of the show itself, online features, publication with full bios and contact details in our FOLKELARM Guide, being represented with a track at the FOLKELARM double CD, and much more besides. Plus, all invited artists will get free full access to all parts of FOLKELARM (this also includes the artist representative). So, if you want to propose a showcase, think carefully about financing and let us know what support or funding you have.

About the application form

Interested? Here's how to submit: Fill out the application form below. In order to be considered for FOLKELARM, you will need the following items - all of them, without exception:

•    a full biography (attached as a PDF- or Word-file in English)
•    a biography of 400 letters
•    discography
•    a list of musicians involved and full instrumentation
•    a list of three songs from the CD you send us, which you prefer to suggest to the jury. 
•    photos (attached as a PDF- or Word-file)
•    a complete stage plan (attached as a PDF- or Word-file)
•    full technical rider, including backline (attached as a PDF- or Word-file)
•    selected press reviews or other text info, if you have!
•    your 2009 planned gigs, if any. (attached as a PDF- or Word-file)
•    Video if possible – but not necessary.

Send 2 CDs of your latest release + any available DVDs/video material  (video or performance footage; it doesn't have to be in broadcast quality) via postal mail to the FOLKELARM office below. Materials submitted cannot be returned.
