Nordsjøfestivalen i Farsund is an international musicfestival which focuses on the traditional music found around The North Sea. The festival is a meetingplace for musicians who represent and develop the traditions from their areas and cultures. In this way the festival is a sort of melting-pot in which different musical and cultural expressions meet, pleasing both musicians and their audience.

Nordsjøfestivalen i Farsund engage musicians from Scotland, England, the Orkneys, the Faroe Islands, Denmark, Sweden, the Shetlands, Ireland – providing an international vibe to our small community this weekend in the end of summer.

The highlights have been frequent in the festival´s short life since 1999: Artist like Altan, Waterson:Carthy, Annbjørg Lien, Catriona MacDonald, Instinct, Blåmann Blåmann, Fliflet/ Hamre, Majorstuen, and Suntrap to mention a few, have provided magical shows, shows that enables ut to continue our work.

Nordsjøfestivalen i Farsund takes pride in creating an informal meetingplace for both musicians and spectators, not just a series of conserts. It is therefore important with both formal and informal conserts, courses, dancing, jamming and all those other ingredients which hopefully provides a great festival - and a great experience - for all of us!
